Victim found unconscious in dark street
Detectives in Kimberley are appealing for the public's help in tracking down a man suspected of raping a 22-year-old woman in the Northern Cape capital. The incident took place near Stockdale Street on Sunday, 5 October 2025, and an identikit image of the alleged attacker has been released in a bid to bring him to justice.
According to preliminary police findings, the young woman was in Stockdale Street when she was set upon and sexually assaulted by an unidentified male. She was left unconscious and only regained awareness some time later in a darkened side street beside a tuck shop, where she discovered that her personal belongings had been taken.
The Kimberley Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has since opened a rape case and launched a full investigation into the attack. Officers are working to piece together the events surrounding the assault and identify the perpetrator.
"The police are requesting the public to assist with information that may lead to the apprehension and arrest of the suspect depicted in the identikit herewith in order to solve this case."
Public urged to come forward
Authorities have stressed that any information provided by members of the community will be handled with the strictest confidence. Investigators believe someone in the area may have witnessed suspicious activity near Stockdale Street on the night in question or may recognise the individual shown in the released identikit.
