Two Test matches headline packed 2026-27 home schedule

South Africa's women's cricket squad is gearing up for a thrilling home campaign, with confirmation that both India and Australia will tour the country during the 2026-27 season. The schedule features a rich mix of formats, including two highly anticipated Test matches that promise to deliver top-class red-ball action on local soil.

India will be the first visitors, arriving in December for a tour comprising three One-Day Internationals and a four-day Test. The ODI leg kicks off on 9 December at Potchefstroom before moving to Bloemfontein on 12 December and wrapping up in Cape Town on 15 December. The tour culminates with a Test match at the iconic St George's Park in Gqeberha, scheduled from 20 to 23 December.

Australia's visit follows early in 2027 with an extensive programme spanning three T20 Internationals, three ODIs and a Test. The T20 series begins on 18 March in Kimberley, with subsequent matches in Benoni on 21 March and East London on 23 March. The one-day series then takes the teams to Gqeberha on 27 March, Paarl on 31 March and Durban on 3 April, before the tour concludes with a Test at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom from 8 to 11 April.

Cricket SA eager to fill stadiums

Cricket South Africa chief executive Pholetsi Moseki expressed enthusiasm about the forthcoming fixtures, noting that both players and administrators are looking forward to welcoming the touring sides.

"The tours are a showcase for international women's cricket and we have been persuaded to welcome more spectators to the iconic stadiums."

Moseki's comments reflect a growing ambition to boost attendance at women's international matches across the country, with fixtures spread across seven different venues from Kimberley to Cape Town, ensuring fans in multiple provinces will have the opportunity to watch world-class cricket on their doorstep.

The Proteas women are currently on tour in New Zealand, where they face the White Ferns in a five-match T20 series. The fourth fixture was set for Sunday in Wellington, with a 03:45 South African time start. Heading into that contest, the home side held a 2-1 series advantage.

With the squad gaining valuable experience abroad, attention will soon shift to preparations for the blockbuster home summer. The prospect of hosting two of the sport's powerhouses in successive tours represents a significant moment for women's cricket in South Africa and offers the Proteas a chance to stake their claim among the world's elite on familiar pitches.

South African cricket fans across seven provinces stand to benefit directly from this unprecedented home schedule, which could drive significant local economic activity through tourism, hospitality, and match-day spending in smaller cities like Kimberley and Potchefstroom that rarely host international fixtures. The back-to-back tours against two of the strongest teams in women's cricket also present a crucial opportunity for the Proteas to build momentum and competitiveness ahead of future global tournaments.
