Deadly attack at social event
A social gathering in Eldorado Park turned deadly on Saturday night when a group of armed men stormed the premises and opened fire, killing two people and leaving six others with gunshot wounds.
The shooting took place at approximately 22:30, according to police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili. Responding officers discovered that paramedics had already declared two individuals dead at the scene, while six others sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
"When the police arrived at the scene, the officers found two people who had already been pronounced dead by paramedics. Another six people suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to a local hospital for treatment."
Muridili explained that the violence erupted during a social gathering at a residential property in the area. Roughly eight unidentified men reportedly entered the yard and immediately began firing indiscriminately at those present before fleeing on foot.
No arrests as investigation intensifies
Authorities confirmed that no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the massacre, and the reason behind the attack remains unclear at this stage. Investigators are actively pursuing all available leads in an effort to identify and locate those responsible for the bloodshed.
"No suspects have yet been arrested and the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage."
Muridili indicated that detectives are working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident and have called on members of the public to assist with any information they may have.
