Resident disappeared after stepping out of Troy Avenue residence
Authorities in the Eastern Cape are searching for a Parsonsvlei resident who went missing after leaving his home to walk his dog, sparking concern among family members and the local community.
Khaya Buhle Ngqase is reported to have departed his Troy Avenue residence in Parsonsvlei at approximately 11:45, accompanied by his dog. While the animal later made its way back to the property on its own, Ngqase himself has not returned, prompting his loved ones to raise the alarm.
"The dog has since returned home but not Mr Ngqase."
At the time of his disappearance, Ngqase was dressed in a green T-shirt paired with blue Bermuda shorts and blue flip flop sandals. No further details regarding the circumstances surrounding his vanishing have been made available at this stage.
Community urged to assist with information
The case has raised deep concern among residents of the Parsonsvlei area, where neighbours have described the disappearance as highly unusual. The fact that his dog returned without him has only heightened fears that something untoward may have occurred during what appeared to be a routine outing.
Investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have spotted Ngqase on the day in question, or who have any knowledge of his current whereabouts, to come forward without delay. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their nearest police station or make use of the anonymous tip-off line.
The search for Khaya Buhle Ngqase remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to his disappearance from the quiet Parsonsvlei neighbourhood.
The disappearance of a resident during a routine activity like walking a dog underscores growing safety concerns in Eastern Cape communities, where unexplained missing persons cases place strain on local policing resources and erode the sense of security residents depend on daily. For families and neighbours in areas like Parsonsvlei, such incidents can discourage outdoor activity and affect community wellbeing. The outcome of the investigation may influence how authorities approach similar cases going forward.
