The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has cautioned that wet weather conditions are set to move eastward, with Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal expected to bear the brunt of the storms.
A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms across Limpopo, Mpumalanga, portions of Gauteng and northeastern KwaZulu-Natal. An additional warning for damaging waves along the eastern coastline is also in effect. Residents in the affected areas can expect hail, heavy rainfall, powerful winds and significant lightning activity.
SAWS indicated that warnings could be escalated should conditions worsen. Widespread showers and thundershowers are anticipated over northeastern Limpopo, eastern Mpumalanga and northeastern KwaZulu-Natal, while scattered rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, parts of KwaZulu-Natal and northeastern Gauteng.
The Eastern Cape, Western Cape, sections of the Free State and North West may also experience isolated showers and thundershowers as the system moves through.
